I have been teaching at THA since 2005 when I joined the staff as the secular fifth grade teacher. A few years later, fifth grade was included in the middle school, so I became the middle school literature teacher. I have been teaching fourth grade general studies for the last several years, enjoying it immensely.
I was born and raised in a suburb of Boston, but left Massachusetts to go to college in Maine. There I married my college sweetheart, raised a son and a daughter, and lived on beautiful Mt. Desert Island where I taught fifth grade. I graduated from the University of Maine and was adjunct for a number of years at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, teaching Children's Literature. I lost my husband in 2001 and decided that it was time to leave the gray and fog behind for an adventure in the sunshine. I have made Tucson my home ever since. And although much of my heart and all of my family (including four grandkids I adore) are still on the east coast, my THA family has embraced me wholeheartedly and I love it here.
Outside of school, I am a reader and movie fanatic. I am a traveler and explorer. I love to work with my hands and can usually be found (even on recess duty!) with knitting needles or crochet hook in hand. I especially like to quilt and I enjoy altering books, journaling, and Zentangling. I dabble a bit in genealogy. I like sharing these passions with my students as well.
