Passover is bitter….
Passover is sweet…..
Sad….and joyful
Egypt….and the Land of Milk and Honey
Pharaoh….and Moses
Matzah; unleavened bread
Blood….and wine
Parsley and salt water
Celebration
One seder, two seders,
Four questions
Four sons
Four cups
Forty years
Darkness….and light
Plagues and death
Working….and resting
Hiding the Afikomen
Slaying of the firstborn
Slavery…..and freedom
Retelling the story

Thankful Poems:
I am thankful for
food which give me strength,
family that loves me
my house that shelters me
and technology which keeps me busy.
~Axius
I Am Thankful for...
friends who comfort me when I'm hurt
a house because it's warm and there when it's cold
books because they calm me when I'm angry
games because they create joy
pets because they cuddle with me
my teacher because she has taught me so much
family because they hug and kiss me goodnight.
~Jack N. Jill
I am Thankful for my precious life --
without it, there would be no me.
I am glad for love.
Without love, there would be hatred.
I adore my dogs, Lyla, Charlie, Luna, and Minnie
and my fishies, Whitetail, Eater, and Charlotte
who make me laugh.
I am thankful I have an imagination
for fantasy.
I am thankful for my parents
because they comfort me when I'm feeling blue.
~Rosie Bloom
I'm thankful for my weird-smelling family
and my smiling friends.
I'm thankful for my pets
and loving siblings.
I'm thankful for my friend's and family's
laughter.
I'm thankful for hot chocolate that fills my mouth
with warm, sweet sugar.
I'm thankful for trees that make oxygen
that fills my lungs.
I'm glad for paper and pencils
to write with
I'm grateful for my teacher
who makes me laugh, jokes,
and drives me crazy when she makes me pay her bonus bucks.
I'm thankful for camping and
sitting by the campfire.
I'm thankful for books to fill me
with smart ideas.
I'm thankful for money
to buy me things I need.
I'm thankful for dictionaries to fill my head
with smart words.
I'm thankful for taste buds
so I can savor candy.
I'm thankful for hair
so I won't be bald.
I'm thankful for me.
~Sophia Stone
I am thankful for my parents
they love me
they hug me
they kiss me
they cuddle with me in bed
they take me to fun places like Disneyland...
Seaworld...
Las Vegas...
and San Diego.
they feed me
they spoil me a little
my mom comes to school and reads with me
she comes to my basketball games
she drives me back and forth to school
my dad shows me how to fix the car,
lets me check out the engine,
tighten screws,
and change the filters
we fly my helicopter in the living room
where it sometimes hits the ceiling
and wobbles to the floor.
I love my parents.
They make me feel joyful
~Tommy Bubbles
I am thankful for family
who comfort me when I'm sad
my mom,
my dad,
my sister, Liot,
my brother, Asher
Puck, Chops, and Eloise, my dogs,
who play with me when I'm bored.
Food that keeps me healthy
and fills my mouth with delicious tastes.
Water that quenches my thirst
and keeps me alive.
My two homes
that keep me warm when it's cold
and cool when it's hot.
Friends that watch TV with me,
play Minecraft with me,
go hiking with me -- anytime that I want.
And the military that keeps me safe.
~The Umm King

yAutumn Poems:
In October
My friends and I
carve pumpkins
eat candy
make pumpkin pie
for Halloween
~ Pugsley
October
October is
cold nights,
Halloween,
brightly hued oaks and sycamores,
a fire in the hearth
and
my grey jacket.
~ Axius
October Is Here
I like all the leaves
to fall on my head.
I eat lots of candy
and think
about Halloween.
~ Juliet

~Dab
When I think of autumn
I think of...
scarecrows standing in the fields,
pumpkin pie,
apple cider,
mouth-watering candy,
and spooky costumes.
~The Umm King
October
Autumn to me is red, orange and yellow,
Not too hot and not too cold -
weather is so fresh.
Halloween is skeletons and vampires
walking down the street, and
carving pumpkins with Disney faces.
I love presents on my birthday...
which is this month!
~Tommy Bubbles
Costume parties
and apple cider.
Warm red sweaters.
Butterflies
that migrate from north to south.
Spooky spiders.
And kids snooping from house to house.
~ Pokemon Pikachu
Autumn
Autumn to me is...
picking crazy pumpkins,
crisp weather,
eating my favorite candies,
baking warm pumpkin pie...
and having my comfy
blue blanket
right next to me.
~ Daisy
October is…
Butterflies fluttering through the night sky
Smelling the sweetness of candy and savoring it
Costumed people lurking on the dark streets
Leaves falling
And winds blowing
~Jack N. Jill
October is
my mom’s birthday
grasshoppers,
high grass,
snakes,
horny toads,
lizards,
beff jerky
a whole lot of candy in a pillow sack
and
dressing up as an angel for Halloween
~ Ice Cream Gorilla
October
Pumpkin picking
is what families
are doing,
Kids are swaying
in a wagon full
of hay,
Halloween is coming,
Red, yellow, and orange
leaves fall,
Sukkot is very soon,
it is October!
is what families
~Bob
October
October is Samson’s birthday.
October has Halloween.
October has butterflies.
October has apples.
October is spooky.
~ Leila
Autumn Is
a month of falling leaves,
a month of spookiness,
a month of pumpkin picking,
a month of holidays
~Endel May
Autumn
As I wait
in a deserted
pumpkin patch,
pumpkins lay scattered
all around
me,
sweater tied
around my waist,
waiting for a cool breeze,
I see
read and orange leaves
hanging from
bare branches.
~Snailien
In October
The wind is crisp and cold
Birthdays are celebrated
with balloons,
cakes, and
kids in jumping castles.
El Dia De Los Muertos is coming too,
celebrated with masks,
painted faces,
and a parade of people marching
in the street.
Everyone is having fun.
~Rosie Bloom
October is
People steaming
in a hot tub
Leaves changing from green
to red, orange, and brown
as they fall
The pleasant weather
is changing the skies
Girls and boys build
forts
in their back yards
Parents bake sweet-smelling
pumpkin pie
Under trees,
babies laugh
as the leaves fall down
on them.
